Finally, the zinnias are starting to bloom. However, the seed I planted in the pots on my deck is for small, almost button-like, flowers. The traditional, large zinnia plants would have been way too big for the pots.

The season is lush with green. I pulled all but two pumpkin plants out of the many that emerged from see I had planted in the garbage can on the right. The two remaining plants are flourishing, and so are the zinnias and herbs such as dill, chives, and basil.

I gave the extra pumpkin plants to Hong and Cathy who live next door, and Hong planted them in a garden patch that he had tilled at the end of the street on property owned by the apartment manager.
